Be Bold

March 23rd, 2023

When we look to make decisions if we are unsure of the right thing to do, it is oftentimes better to not act. It is a common belief in sports that if you are playing scared, you are more likely to be injured than if you are playing full speed. Playing scared comes from not being sure of the right assignment, from being unsure of what you should be doing. Acting without confidence is asking for results to be determined for us. We should instead be acting with confidence to determine the results for ourselves. When we act in confidence we act in bold ways. If when we act, we do make the wrong choice, mistakes are a part of life. No one is perfect and no one always makes the right decision. Mistakes and failure will be a present and active part of everyones lives. Do not let the fear of failure hinder your confidence.

"If you are unsure of a course of action, do not attempt it. Your doubts and hesitations will infect your execution. Timidity is dangerous: Better to enter with boldness. Any mistakes you commit through audacity are easily corrected with more audacity. Everyone admires the bold; no one honors the timid.” —Law 28, 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene.

Through boldness, we are signaling to both ourselves and those around us that we are confident in our choices and actions. Given any mistake based on this boldness, we gain the respect of others if we are able to muster up that same sense of boldness and admit we are wrong. Being bold is not an arrogant mannerism to have. It is a confident characteristic that causes those around you to gravitate toward you. People are remembered by their confidence in their actions, by their heroics, not by waffling on which decision to make and not by letting someone else decide their outcome. People remember the soldiers, the heroes, the visionaries, the trailblazers, the bold.

Becoming bold starts from within. It is not easy being bold. We must find and become comfortable with ourselves. We must accept who we are while shooting to become a better version of ourselves. We then start emitting a reserved yet confident aura. People begin to feel an energy shift when we enter the room. Bold people shape their own lives based on their own decisions. Bold people are noticed and bold people are remembered. Bold people change the world.
