Imbalance

Life has balance. In every ecosystem, there is a way life operates. There are the apex predators and the subsequent food chain below them. There are the symbiotic relationships between different animals, working together in a balanced way to increase their individual chances of survival. Life also has imbalances. When things go against the norm. An invasive species can enter an established system and wreak havoc. Land can be destroyed because of natural disasters and habitats are changed. Imbalance in nature causes adaptation to occur. Imbalance causes nature to change and push to become whole again, to become balanced again. With each set of imbalance, nature becomes stronger as the adaptations and iterations occur. Imbalance is a necessary proponent of life to bring about further balance.

Humanity has used periods of imbalance to create, to find solutions, to innovate and expand, to become better, to conquer. Balance is not where growth is found. Being balanced does not lead to expansion nor does it lead to innovation. It takes a dramatic commitment, becoming obsessed, becoming imbalanced for periods of time to achieve in ways that are scalable. People use periods of imbalance to find the way, to refine their methods, and to iterate and scale upon their trials. Once they have their answers and path forward they can emerge from the clutches of an imbalanced life to become balanced again. Imbalance creates success and balance is what sustains the success. Obsess and be constant now to be stable and sustained in the future.

No form of greatness was created by being balanced. Professional athletes did not become the best of the best by following a balanced method of attack. Extrapolate this category further to the All-Stars, the Hall of Famers, the Greatest of All Times and see the imbalance become more clear. These players obsessed and obsessed until success and greatness were the only options. Founders we know by name. The Bezos, the Jobs, the Gates, and the Elons of the world did not create what they created by following normal schedules. They obsessed and constantly worked to create what they believed in. These levels of success were only reached by periods of imbalance.

Imbalance is required for advancement. Becoming imbalanced is necessary to evolve and achieve at a top level. Doing what others won’t will produce results others cannot reach. However, imbalance is not a permanent state of being. Once success is reached, once the adaptations take form, balance can reenter the equation. Use imbalance to find and achieve, then transition back to balance to sustain the success.
