No Change

August 13th, 2023

Life has infinite amounts of changes, some small and some large. Changes are not to be avoided, they will happen. From having new countertops in your new apartment, to the weather outside, to how much you weigh, anything in life can, and will, change. In the world of seeking improvement and chasing your goals, change is highly desired. Recognizing change does not come instantly with what you are pursuing is key to falling in love with the long-term process of evolvement. But if you are acting consistently and nothing is noticeably different, you will need to change your process. Change takes a long time when vying for improvement but “no change” is a net negative part of the process and must be extinguished.

If nothing changes, nothing changes. Change is the desired product of your actions. When there is no change, you must reevaluate your processes. When the approach you are practicing is not working, you must find a fresh perspective. Inspiration to make your process better can come from anything as long as you are receptive and understanding to the idea that the methods you are currently deploying are leading you nowhere. Talk to someone else, read a book on the issue you are struggling with, do something that would not come natively to you. If what you are doing is causing no change or growth, you must be relentless in your pursuit to find something that moves the needle forward. Time moves too quickly to remain stagnant.

If you are trying to lose weight and the scale has not changed in weeks, you need to try something different. Add a different workout to your routine, try fasting, cut out certain foods, you cannot stay the same if you want to achieve your goals.

If you are trying to run faster or for longer distances but notice you have reached a ceiling in your performance, you need to try something different. Hire a running coach to give you more data analysis, fuel yourself with electrolytes, perform more workouts at an “easy” pace, you need to try something different.

There are countless other examples that could be used to portray the deficits caused by practices that do not lead to change. Using daily consistency leading to change over the long run is very different than working consistently to realize no added benefit. It should become very apparent over a period of time if what you are doing is helping you improve and come closer to your goals. If you have not changed, never be afraid to adopt a new mentality, a new perspective, and a new way of doing things. Staying the same is the downside to not changing your processes. Unlimited potential is the upside. It is a no-brainer to focus on doing things that help you realize this potential. No change is not the answer, changing is.

You do not want to be stuck in time doing the same thing, find ways to change
