The Halfway Point

July 2nd, 2023

July 2nd is the halfway point of the year. Half of the year has already happened. Half of the year’s time was spent up. Was it spent up living, spent up creating, and spent up acting? Or was it spent waiting, spent procrastinating, and spent planning? Now is the perfect time to reflect and see. With half the year to go, there is still so much time to implement steps to make a difference in your life. If you have regrets from the first half, this is a perfect reset point to begin a different path forward, a different path forward for the rest of the year that can carry onto the rest of your life.

Life offers given reset points. New Year’s is one that is used by many. New Year’s also happens only one time every 365 days. There is not much point in waiting a full year to reevaluate and make a change. Realistically, you could choose to reset and reevaluate any day of the year, even at any moment of the year. July 2nd offers a unique opportunity because it can serve as an anchoring point for the changes you desire. With one half of the year already done, how do you want the second half of the year to go? What do you want to accomplish? What do you need to change in your life to take small steps on the path to progress? Sit and ponder with your thoughts and then choose to make the changes.

Any change made will compound as you continue to act. There are still 182 days left in the year. These are 182 opportunities to continue evolving and elevating yourself so that you can reach your goals. Imagine the differences you can make in the remaining six months if you choose to flip a switch and dedicate yourself to any sort of improvement you seek.

How many miles can you run in 6 months if you start today?

How many new songs and notes can you play on your guitar with 6 months of practice?

How many articles can you write if you start writing one today?

How many new words and phrases can you learn in French if you start lessons today?

How many books can you read if you crack open chapter one today?

There are so many opportunities to be seized. There is still so much time left in this year. So many people fail their New Year’s resolutions because they lack year-long motivation and do not provide themselves with proper check-in points. Use July 2nd as this reset point, use it as the halfway point. Reevaluate, take a breath, and start anew. Continue to check in with yourself over the course of the next six months and see how far you can go. Start today. The first half of 2023 is finished, write the complete story in this second half.

Half the year is gone, what will you do with the next half?
